Salesian Family Youth Center

Located in the heart of Boyle Heights and City Terrace, the Salesian Family Youth Center (SFYC) has served as a beacon of hope since 1966, welcoming children and teens aged 6–18 from ethnically diverse and economically challenged communities. Daily programs include after-school tutoring, leadership workshops, oratory sessions, and confirmation preparation—all designed to foster academic growth, spiritual formation, and personal empowerment (salesianclubs-la.org).

Volunteers at SFYC are valued as mentors, educators, youth leaders, and community animators. They help facilitate small-group learning, lead arts, STEM, sports, or music activities, support youth ministry events, and contribute to the annual Camp Salesian summer program (salesianclubs-la.org). Former participants frequently return as staff—as one shared, “After my first day … I felt at home right away,” highlighting the strong sense of belonging at SFYC.
