Nestled in the Diocese of Anuradhapura, the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Nochchiyagama is a vibrant Vocational Training Centre launched in 2000. Focused on serving young people looking for a second chance, it offers courses in mechanics, carpentry, computer literacy, English, and more—equipping them with real-world skills for brighter futures (donbosco.lk). Additionally, the campus includes an English-medium school, a parish, hostel facilities, and vibrant youth and farm programs—a holistic environment where personal growth thrives alongside technical training (donbosco.lk).
As a volunteer, you’ll be fully integrated into this close-knit Salesian community, working alongside instructors and Salesian Sisters and Brothers to mentor students, support classroom and workshop activities, and run youth initiatives like oratories, sports, and arts programs. Shared meals, communal prayer, and immersive cultural experiences bring Don Bosco’s spirit of reason, religion, and loving-kindness to life. Ministry Background
We have a primary English Medium School and next year we are venturing into secondary section. There are about 85 students. There are also 8 teachers teaching in the school.
Purpose & Objectives
To help the poor children to learn in English Since we have an English Medium School. Specially those who are qualified to teach maths and science

Students training in extra curricular activities such as music , dancing, arts,abacus, chess etc
Duties & Responsibilities
Teaching and guiding the English Medium School children to become better citizens in the country

Qualified in teaching primary and secondary education specially in maths and science

Some one who has experience and knowledge about teaching primary and secondary schools

It is a Buddhist area and few catholics live. It is located beside the main road of Anuradhapura – Puttalam main road. It is a small town in Anuradhapura district.
