St. Anthony's has been serving those on the margins of society in San Francisco since 1950. The foundation is a ministry of the Franciscans (Order of Friars Minor).

St. Anthony's offers a range of services including a dining room, medical clinic, workforce development/job training center, free clothing store, showers, laundry, social work, shelter for women and children, and an addiction recovery home.
Area Information
The primary duty of the lay missioner is to serve those in need, lifting up their spirits, while honoring their inherent dignity as our brother or sister in Christ. Secondarily the lay missioner will work closely with groups of teenagers who volunteer at our foundation. During the academic year there we host school groups almost every other day. This includes inspiring them to engage in this ministry while creating an experience that calls them to think deeply about issues of poverty and injustice cionnecting this to their Christian faith.
Major Duties
Direct service to people experiencing poverty, homelessness and addiction.
Educating and ministering to teenagers (mostly grades 10-12) who come to volunteer.
Working with the Franciscan Friars and Missionaries of Charity among other orders.
Practical Qualifications/Skills Needed
Practicing Catholic. Native English speaker. Willingness to work in an environment of poverty with regular interactions with people living on the streets. Gifted in youth ministry/connecting with teenagers.
Helpful Academic Preparation
High school graduate at least 18 years old.
Helpful Experience
youth ministry or high school education helpful but not required
