Site's Purpose and Objectives

Mission Frontier Evangelization! This ought to be understood as the total development of the person by underscoring a witness of generosity, self-sacrifice, service and professionalism for the Mongolian youth that live in a post-socialist society. Through an integral education this Ministry/project would prepare numerous Mongolian young adults and children to prepare for life, dignified and responsible (faithful).

In more broad terms, It is an indirect evangelization service by way professional education in a Vocational Training institution that likewise offers a parallel secondary education (high school) to each and every student. What distinguishes DBITSC from other educational institutions and centers is not only has professional equipment but emphasizes the need for a witnessing to and insistence on education to values and discipline. This not only assures a stable employment but also a stable family for the present and future Mongolians.

Area Information

Located in the very capital with all access to all urban lifestyles (good and bad). The average income of the country per person 200 USD. the average income we could provide for the staff is 350 USD. The primary needs always revolve around basic necessities of heating, shelter, food, transportation, and tuition. All staff live by a 'hand-to-mouth' existence so to speak when they cannot afford to have savings due to daily needs. The Basic dreams of any Mongolian is to be able to acquire an apartment residence and secondly to own a car.

Special Challenges/Conditions

Hazards to the mission would mainly revolve around personality dysfunctions so to speak on the part of the missioner, like narrow-mindedness and impatience with slow or weak students. In general, a 'normal' personality for a missioner would find no difficulty at all. The basic qualities a missioner should posses to avoid 'hazards' is a prudent and respectful attitude towards people of other race, culture and family background. In short, be understanding of people different from one's own preconceived ways of doing good things. Its just being open-mind to variations of life experiences for all humanity.

Major Duties

Major Duties: M-F Weekly teaching load for creative English Communication (Speaking, Reading and comprehension) and English Grammar (writing for more advanced students); Similar to all local and teaching staff. 8 hour work day. Saturday is just house chores but not obligatory. Sunday Mass obligation. Students' ages: 14-20, male and female. Minor duties: If one can also learn to cook would also be good in case the local cook is out for some reason. Together with the Salesians we do the washing and clean up after meals ourselves in general.

Practical Qualifications/Skills Needed

a) Not that one be possess a professional teaching certificate, but it would be plus plus to know that one has the skills of teaching... and that students not only want to learn from this missioner but actually CAN learn from this missioner when the day is over.

Helpful Academic Preparation

a) Language Teaching Experience. b) Language Teaching Experience for slow or weakly motivated learners. c) Language Teaching Experience for people with zero-English d) Language Teaching Experience for kids or kid-like levels of English.
